PARCELS FOR TROOPS
ADEQUATE PACKING NECESSARY. STATEMENT BY MR WEBB. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr P. Webb (Postmaster General), in a statement says there is still a lack of appreciation of the need for the adequate packing of parcels for abroad. These parcels have to undergo a great amount of handling in difficult transit of all kinds. The best type is that in which a tin container is used with the lid soldered down.
The early posting of Christmas cards and gifts is advised by Mr Webb. Today 2,100 postal officers are absent with the New Zealand Forces, not to mention those released for Territorial training and the task ahead of those left is one of considerable magnitude.
