FEATHERSTON

RED CROSS SOCIETY P" ' 1 - SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very successful garden party was held in connection.with the Red Cross Society at “Longwood,” the residence of Mr and Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford, on Saturday. The grounds looked beautiful, the peonies and roses making a great show. The various stalls found ready buyers and the afternoon tea was well patronised. The stall holders were: Miscellaneous, Mesdames McKenzie, Q. Donald, R. Matthews; cakes, Mesdames Collins, Bidwill; outside tearooms, Mesdames Feast, Carly on, Lawson; flowers, Mrs Arch Clark; soft drinks, Mr H. Graham.

The putting golf competition, which was in charge of Miss Goble and Mr Lawson, was won by Mr D. C. Collins and Miss J. Collins.

The darts competition conducted by Miss Collins and Mr G. Griffith was won by Mr D. Carlyon.

Other competitions resulted as follows: Dinner, Mr C. Robertson (Wellington); sucking pig, Mr Chasland; cake, Miss Gwen Jensen; ham, Mr G. Yule; Christmas pudding, Miss O. Nix; mystery envelope, Mrs Wardell.

The amount taken was approximately £lOO. At a recent examination in connection with the Pahautea-Kahutara subcentre of the'Red Cross Society, the following candidates were successful in the elementary first aid section: — Mrs Hume (honours), Misses Cade, Ness, Hood, Mrs Fenwick, Mrs Feast (pass).
