GARDEN PARTY
CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANV LADIES’ GUILD GATHERING AT SEDGLEY. BABY SHOW AND OTHER ' FEATURES. Brisk business was done at the Church of the Epiphany Ladies’ Guild Garden Party held at Sedgley on Saturday afternoon. The proceeds amounted to over £6O.
Archdeacon E. J. Rich called on Mrs L. B. Maunsell to open the party. In doing so, Mrs Maunsell spoke of the need for the young people and the parents to carry on the work of the church.
A special feature of the garden party was the baby show which was in charge of Mesdames Hibbs and Dalrymple, and was judged by Mrs Dr. Rich and Miss Hubbard. An apology for absence was received from Mrs E. J. .Rich;
Prizes were awarded to the following: One to six months, lan McMaster 1, Alfred White 2; six to twelve months, Ronald Miller 1, Alison Barington 2; one to two years, Enid Winhall 1; Sally Barrington 2. The prizes were donated by Mrs Stanley Fletcher, Mrs Betts, Miss Iva Gordon, Messrs L. Nicol, Hope Cross and J. Ninnes. Shoulder sprays made and donated £y Mrs Dillon, were presented to Mrs Maunsell, Mrs Dr. Rich, Mrs Hibbs and Mrs Kilgour. The stall-holders were: Work, Mesdames W. Henson, W. Kemp and H. Hirst; aprons, Mesdames Adams, H. M. Boddington and H. J. Bannister; knickknacks. Misses Pearce and McCarter; cakes, Mesdames Hibbs, C. Jackson and Miss McPeat; sweets, Miss D. Kemp and Sunday School teachers; produce, Mesdames Hallam, Miller and Carmon; flowers, Mesdames Palamontain, Anderson and Miss Ashwell; strawberries and cream, Misses D. and W. Wybers; ice cream, Mr and Mrs V. Bradley and family; games, etc., Mr Nicholi and church committee; gates, Mr W. Kemp. Buttonholes were sold by Jennifer Jackson. The afternoon tea was in charge of Mesdames A. T. Jackson, C. Braggins and Davis, Misses Bannister, Peggy Davis,, Una Davis and Elva Jackson.
Competition prize-winners were: — Box of chocolates, Miss Steer; Christmas cake (donated by Mrs D. Duncan). Miss McPeat; baby’s dress, Mr McMaster; load of wood (donated by Mr Adams), Mr Holtham. • Fvrellent music was supplied by the Masterton Municipal Band.
