GARDEN PARTY

INFORMAL GATHERING. Next of kin of New Zealand prisoners of war and members of various Red Cross committees were invited by Mrs G. G. Tolhurst to a garden party held at her residence, Cole Street, yesterday afternoon. There was an attendance of about one hundred. The gathering was quite an informal one and enabled next-of-kin to exchange information relative to soldiers overseas. The Wairarapa R.S.A. and the St. John Ambulance were officially represented. Mrs Tolhurst acted as hostess. Afternoon tea and ice cream were served to those present. The beautiful garden was greatly admired. The nex-of-kin invited were: —Mr and Mrs Prentice (Returned Soldiers), Miss Whitehouse and Mrs F. K. McKenzie and Mrs A. F. Stewart. Sister Grant (Matron of Masterton Hospital), Mr and Mrs' Charles Oliver, Mr and Mrs J. Wallis, Mrs Te Tau, Mrs Price; Mr and Mrs Kenneth Welch and Mrs, J. Welch, Mrs and Miss Baikie, Mr and' Mrs J. Irving, Mr and Mrs W. E. Browne, Mr and Mrs F. M. O’Connor, Mr and Mrs Griffen, Mrs George Clarke,, Mr L. Kjar, Mr and Mrs T. 0. Sayer, Mr and Mrs A. V. Faulknor, Mr and Mrs J. Barnes, Mrs C. C. Cook, Mrs Budd, Mi’ and'Mrs F. Fauvell, Mrs H. F. Hill, Mr James Lennie and Mr W. Lennie, Mr and Mrs George Hayne, Mrs W. Wilson, Mrs and Miss Rosson, Mrs J. S. Robinson, Miss Turley, Mrs J. M.
