OBITUARY
MR T. D. BURNETT, M.P.. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, November 30. The death occurred early this morning after a severe illness of Mr Thomas David Burnett, M.P. for Temuka, aged 64. Born in Cave in 1877 and educated at the Timaru Main and Boys’ High Schools, he went to work on the station of his parents, the late Mr and Mrs Andrew Burnett, who came from the Highlands in Scotland to Canterbury in 1861, and straightaway went to the Mackenzie Country. In 1864 they took up the Mount Cook run, ; which Mr Burnett inherited on the death of his father. Mr Burnett entered politics in 1919, when he won the Temuka seat from the sitting member, Mr C. J. Talbot. Mr Burnett has held the seat ever since. In 1925 he suffered a severe accident and announced his intention of retiring but was prevailed on to reconsider his decision. 111-health caused Mr Burnett again to announce his decision to retire a few years ago, but once more he was prevailed on to continue to serve the country. While M.P. for Temuka Mr Burnett was always keen for the advancement of South Canterbury, and his moral and financial assistance had always been forthcoming. Mr Burnett is survived by his wife, one son, Mr D. M. C. Burnett, and a daughter, Miss Catriana Burnett. MR F. L. WILLIAMS. The death occurred this morning at a private hospital in Masterton of Mr Frank Lloyd Williams, who was well known throughout the Wairarapa as the manager of Glendonald station for a period of 45 years. The late Mr Williams was born in Dunedin 70' years ago and was unmarried. He is survived by one brother and two sisters. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving St. Matthew’s Church following a service at 10.30 a.m. for the Karori Cemetery where a private interment will take place at 2.30 p.m.
