HIGH HONOUR FOR BRITISH AIRMEN. SERVING ON RUSSIAN FRONT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, November 28. In connection with the award of the Order of Lenin to the New Zealander, Wing Commander Ramsbottom Isherwood, and three other R.A.F. pilots serving in Russia, it is noted that this is the highest Russian decoration and that it has never before been awarded to a foreigner for military achievements. The names of the are given by the Moscow radio as Isherwocd, Rooke, Miller and Howey. Rooke and Miller are squadron leaders and Howey is a sergeant. The newspaper “Izvestia,” commenting on the successful work of the R.A.F. wing in Russia, says: Wing Commander Ramsbottom Isherwood’s plane always appeared whenever the enemy was particularly audacious and his unerring eye, firm hand and strong manoeuvre tactics always ensured victory. Personally he shot down three enemy planes in a short time.
