AGAINST NAZIS & FINNS HEAVY LOSSES INFLICTED. ENEMY TANKER & TRANSPORTS SUNK. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) MOSCOW, November 28. The “Red Star” says Soviet troops in the last two days have continued to advance in the Kestenga area in the north. The Germans and Finns stubbornly resisted and suffered heavy losses. The Finns furiously and unsuccessfully attacked south-west of Medvezhegorsk. Soviet submarines sank an enemy oil tanker and five transports with troops and war material. The “Red Star” states that 1429 German planes have been brought down on the Leningrad front since the outbreak of war. Of these 686 were shot down in combats. SOVIET REPORT DESTRUCTION OF ENEMY AIRCRAFT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, November 28. The Russian night communique states: “On November 27, our troops engaged the enemy on all the fronts. On November 26 nineteen German aircraft were destroyed; we lost four. On November 27 fifteen aircraft were shot, down near Moscow.”
