SAINT ANDREW SOCIETY
SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT. 4 The programme to be presented at the St. Andrew’s Night Concert at the Opera House tomorrow evening will appeal not only to Scots but to all music-lovers. The principal attractions are, of course, the famous contralto, Mrs Wilfred Andrews, and the equally famous tenor, Mr Ray Trewern, They will make liberal contributions to the programme. Miss Masters and Mi’ Hubert Filer excel in the sympathetic rendering of pianoforte music demanding a high degree of skill in execution. In addition, the Saint Andrew Ladies’ Choir has made great progress under its able conductor, Mr William C. Mann. The choir’s items range from such humorous rollicking ditties as “The Wee Cooper c’ Fife” to the pathetic amorousness of “Aye Wankin', O!” both of which will be new to Sassenachs, and many New Zealand Scots. Martial songs will also be included. Chieftainess Mrs R. A. Miller’s recitations need no recommendation. It is stated that the dancing items will excel even the high standard usually sot by the Society, and the Pipe Band will be an added attraction. An attractively artistic souvenir programme, filled with singularly appropriate quotations from Scots literature, will be on sale at 3d. A bumper house is expected, and it will be advisable to reserve seats at Pither’s. No extra fee is charged for reservations.
