♦ NATIONAL SAVINGS QUOTA FULLY SUBSCRIBED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The postmaster at Featherston reports that the national savings weekly quota of £155. was again fully subscribed for the week ended November 22, this enabling the pennant to be flown at the masthead. This is the third consecutive week in which the full quota has been received.

BOWLING CLUB TEAMS TO PLAY MASTERTON. The following are the Featherston Bowling Club’s teams to play Masterton at Masterton on Saturday: — Shield; Elder, Talbot, James, Rolls (s). Booth Cup: Anderson, Thompson, J. Higgison, Bloxam (s); W. Higgison, Robinson, O’Neale, McNamara (s). ST. JOHN’S CHURCH CONFIRMATION SERVICE. A confirmation service was held in St. John’s Church last evening when the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. St. Barbe Holland confirmed 19 candidates. The Bishop delivered a very impressive address on “Possession. Transmission, and Commission.” The Bishop of Wellington addressed the Featherston, Kahutara-Pahautea and Western Lake Ladies’ Guild at the annual dedication service held in St. John’s Church yesterday afternoon. After the service tea Was served in the Parish Hall bv the Featherston Ladies’ Guild. Garden Party at Longwood. The arrangements for the garden party which is to be held at “Longwood” on Saturday in aid of the Red Cross Society’s funds, are complete in every detail. The beautiful grounds will be a special attraction. There will be many stalls laden with a variety of goods and afternoon tea will be available. As the party is in aid of a very worthy cause there should be a large attendance. The local Red Cross Society has given excellent service to the community, and especially in connection with the war effort. A free bus will leave the Post Office at 2 p.m. for Longwood.
