MAURICEVILLE

RED CROSS SOCIETY CHILDREN’S SHOP DAY. ("Times-Age” Special.) The weekly Red Cross Society's shop day, held by the local children at Mauriceville East, proved a decided success. The proceeds reached a record amount. Much praise is due to the children who for some weeks past had worked enthusiastically towards stocking the shop with varied and useful articles. Many cases of personal sacrifice in donating little treasures to be sold are recorded.

The cake presented, by Mrs J. L. McArley, was taken delivery of by Mrs I. D. Cameron.

The committee appreciate the support given in connection with this patriotic effort and would gratefully accept produce or any articles suitable for sale at the Red Cross Society’s shop. Personal Items. A letter has been received from Private Pat Condon expressing his thanks and appreciation for parcels received from the Mauriceville district. Mrs J. A. Baine is at present spending a few days in Wellington. Mr Ken. Palmer has resigned from the Mauriceville Dairy Co. in order to take up the position of first assistant at the Utiku dairy factory. Home Guard. The special N.C.O. class which is held at the Mauriceville East Hall on Tuesday nights, is proving of considerable benefit to those concerned. The local company is being well trained'in modern military methods.
