WAIRARAPA GUN CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. — -■> ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr C. E. Grey presided over a good attendance of members, including two ladies, at the annual meeting of' the Wairarapa Gun Club held at Carterton last evening. The report and balance sheet were adopted. A credit balance of £Bl 7s 2d was shown over the previous year. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet the chairman congratulated the club on the excellent year experienced. The management committee and secretary deserved, he said, great praise for the sound financial position of the club. “I must particularly thank our capable secretary, Mr M. Kiddie, for the very able manner in which he has carried out his work, and for the great help he has been to me in carrying out the work of the club,” said Mr Grey. Mr G. A. Vincent congratulated the managament committee and said that the result of the first year’s activities augured well for the future of the club'. The amalgamation of the Carterton and Masterton Gun Clubs had proved to be the right move. The secretary, Mr M. Kiddie, was a most capable official, and was to be complimented upon his efficient work. A word of praise was also due to the ladies for looking after the luncheon arrangements on special occasions. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr J. McKenzie Senr. (re-elected); president, Mr C. E. Grey; vice-presidents, Messrs D. S. McKenzie, G. A. Vincent and F. Taplin; club captain, Mr F. E. Allen; secretary, Mr M. Kiddie; treasurer, Mr J. S. , Laurenson; referee, Mr C. A. Gray; general committee, Messrs W. Moroney, C. A. Gray, R. Williams, L. Rayner, J. Crawford, H. Bannister, A. McKay, J. D. McKenzie, J. W. McKenzie, W. H. Saunders, the patron, president, treasurer, vice-presidents, and secretary ex officio; assistant secretary, Mr R. Williams; handicappers, Messrs J. W. McKenzie and M. Kiddie; executive committee, Messrs W. Saunders, C. E. Grey, C. A. Gray, J. W. McKenzie, F. Taplin, G. A. Vincent and M. Kiddie. It was resolved that the subscription should be the same as last year. A working bee of all members will be held on the club’s grounds at Norfolk Road, Waingawa, after the Christmas holidays in order to carry out various improvements to the grounds. It was decided that the club captain and secretary arrange small Christmas parcels for members serving with the armed forces overseas. It was resolved to hold a meeting on December 20 and 21. It was decided to purchase 5000 rounds of ammunition. In recognition of his services during the past season the secretary was voted a bonus.
