♦ BOWLING CLUB MASSON CUP AND BADGES. (“Times-Age” Special.) In a match for the Masson Cup and Badges played on Wednesday evening the holders, Messrs A. Thompson, R. Thompson, F. Harrington and Geo. Riggs (s) defeated the challengers, Messrs Smith, Underhill, Barber, and G. W. Hart (s). PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Patriotic Committee was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr D. L. Taverner), presiding. There were also present: Messrs L. H. Smart, G. Brown, J. Steel, L. J. Fairbrother, A. T. Murray, C. A. Chennells, Mesdames E. T. Beaven, W. A. R. Pinfold and Miss O. W. Wolters. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames H. E. Ordish, J. L. Loftus and P .Beere, Messrs F. Court and J. A. B. Lawrence. Correspondence was received in connection with solders’ gift parcels appeal, 212 parcels being required shortly. It was decided to convene a meeting of the sub-committee next week. A provincial appeal is to be launched early in the new year. Church Service. The Church of England service will be held at Longbush at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday. Terminating Building Society. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society a ballot for £6OO was won by the Rev. W. J. Durrard, of Khandallah. Calf Club Competitions. The judging of the Carterton Group of the Children’s Agricultural Clubs’ competitions will take place at the Carterton Showgrounds on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6. In the morning the Carterton School judging will take place. It was stated in error in yesterday’s issue that the Wairarapa championship judging would take ...place on that date, whereas actually this will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 11 a.m., at the Carterton Showgrounds.
