Carterton will be represented against Martinborough at Martinborough on Saturday by the following players: Booth Cup: Newbould, McCarty; Hughan, (s); A. Thompson, Bain, DeLacey, Harrington (s). Shield: Colson, Compton, Curtis, Stent (s). The following draw has been made for the second round of the champion pairs: Two lives, Smith and Underhill v Thompson and Riggs; R. Thompson and Harrington v Martin and Callender; Newbould and Hughan v Pankhurst and Harp; Colson and Stent v Curtis and Tucker. One life, Aplin and G. Hart v DeLacey and Harris; Foster and Whyte v Larsen and Sorensen; Simmonds and Barber v Kilmister and Barr; Clark and G. Steven v Daysh and McCarty. The following are competition results: — Champion singles (second round): Newbould beat Callender, 15/14. Champion pairs: A. Thompson and Riggs beat Daysh and McCarty, 18/16; Curtis and Tucker beat Clarke and Stevens, 34/26. Progressive pairs: Clark and Sorensen beat Steven* and Larsen, 20/19; Pankhurst and Larsen beat Kilmister and Harrington, 30/9. Women’s institute Dance. On Saturday evening a dance will be held in the Dalefield Hall by the Mata-rawa-Dalefield Women’s Institute. The proceeds are to be devoted to a worthy cause. First class music will be provided by Mrs V. J. Ashton’s orchestra. Personal, Mrs Johansen of Hawke’s Bay is a visitor to Carterton and is staying with Mrs P. Johansen.
