TIRAUMEA

ENJOYABLE DANCE IN AID OF PATRIOTIC FUNDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) _ On Friday last a very enjoyable dance was held by a party or young residents to raise funds for the local Patriotic Committee. The music was supplied by Mrs Houlbrooke and Mr Thompson and Mr Barker played extras. Messrs L. Wallis and J. Hansen were M’s.C. There was not a very large attendance, but Pongaroa and Alfredton were well represented. The Lucky Spot- waltz was won by Miss Betty Edmonds and Mr Algie. Two cakes were raffled. The iced cake was won by Miss Hansen, who handed it back to be auctioned. This was capably done by Mr Raleigh, and the cake was finally bought by Mr Reed. The second cake was won by Miss Phyllis Duncan. A home-made supper was handed round and dancing continued until the early hours of the morning. The Patriotic Committee were handed close on £5 as the result of the effort. '

Personal Items. y Miss Joan Walden, has returned to Napier after having spent a holiday with Miss Mollie Wright. Miss D. Hart is a guest of Mrs Ridley, Pahiatua. The Mends of Mr and Mrs G. Banker will be pleased to hear that their eldest daughter, Maureen, who has had to undergo an operation in Pahiatua, is making good progress towards recovery.
