BODY ARMOUR

PROTECTION FOR TROOPS AGAINST BULLETS & SHELL SPLINTERS. BRITISH WAR OFFICE EXPERIMENTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, November 24. The British War Office is experimenting with a new type of body armour for troops. Weighing two pounds, the armour is proof against sub-machine-guns and gives protection against bomb splinters and glancing bullets from machine-guns and rifles. Tests are being made to determine whether the armour slows down the soldiers or reduces their resistance.
