(By Telegraph—-Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 24. | An official spokesman told an Associated Press of America Chungking correspondent that the Chinese Government expects the Japanese-Ameri-can talks to fail, but does not believe that war will follow immediately. The spokesman added that the A.B.C.D. Powers were in perfect accord and that China had been constantly informed of the conversations. NEW INSTRUCTIONS SENT TO MR KURUSU. (Received This Day. 1.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 24. The Domei news agency says the Japanese Foreign Office has sent a new communication to Mr Kurusu and that a new development is expected very shortly. The agency warned that optimism was not warranted, but the Foreign Office regarded the message as urgent.
AMERICAN GUNBOATS IMPENDING WITHDRAWAL FROM YANGTSE. .(Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 24. The Navy Department at Washington announced that it is shortly withdrawing a number of gunboats from the Yangtse River. WAR ORGANISATION IN PROSPECT IN THAILAND. The influential Bangkok newspaper “Suvarnabhuz,” predicts the Thai Government will shortly submit a Bill, mobilising the nation’s resources on a war footing.
