Park Tea Kiosk Broken Into.
Following the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s gala day in the Masterton Park on Saturday the tea kiosk in the Park was broken into at night. A quantity of cigarettes and a small amount of money were stolen. Entry was gained by breaking a window. Soldiers’ Parcels.
The Masterton Women’s Patriotic Committee will pack 567 soldiers’ parcels during the second week in December.' Donations towards the parcels may be left with the secretary, Mrs G. T, O’Hara Smith, The Terrace, Lansdowne, or at the depot at the Women’s Rest Room, Dixon Street.
Charge Against Bank Manager. Ernest Alexander Winchester, bank manager, appear at the Lawrence Court yesterday to face charges of presenting a loaded firearm at Mervyn James Barr, of assault and of carrying a pistol without a licence. Accused was remanded till Friday morning, bail being allowed on his own recognisance of £5O and another surety of £5O. Seasonal Work.
For the next' few months vacancies, will exist in the Nelson district for several hundred seasonal workers. Work on tobacco farms will be available for both men and women. The Masterton Placement Officer will give particulars to anyone interested. Accommodation is provided by the tobacco growers. Vacancies will also exist shortly for fruit pickers, etc.
Humorists are now asking how many clothing coupons are required for divorce suits. The answer is the same as for'breaches of promise.
