FLOWER SHOW GIRL GUIDES AND BOY SCOUTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) . The annual Rose and Sweet Peas Show held by the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts in the Masonic Hall provided a very fine display of blooms The championship in roses was won by Miss K. Martin, and that for best red rose in show by Miss Roma Wright. The prize for the best collection went to Mrs A. Clark with a very fine exhibit of twelve roses. In sweet peas Mrs J. Yates won the principal prize with some very fine blooms in the various classes. Spinning Demonstration. 1 At a meeting of ladies a demonstration of spinning was given by Mrs 1 Robieson, of Masterton. After the demonstration several ladies present tried their hands at the wheel. It. was decided that the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union call a meeting shortly for the purpose of forming a spinning circle. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Robieson, who was also presented with a posy. Garden Circle. The monthly meeting of the local Garden Circle was held at Mrs S. Chapman's residence, when therb was a large attendance. The competitions for the month resulted:—Roses: Mrs Roper; shrubs, Mrs Boyd; cut flowers, Mrs Robson 1, Mrs Yates 2, Mrs Boyd, Rowlands and Robson (equal) 3.
