FEATHERSTON
SWIMMING CLUB SUCCESSFUL DANCE. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston . Swimming Club held a very successful * dance and euchre party in the Town Hall on Saturday night. The winners at euchre were: Ladies, Mrs Worsley 1, Mrs Fluty 2; men, Mr Rewai I,’Mr A. Jury 2.
The music for the dance was supplied by Udy’s orchestra. Mr P. Habib ably carried out the duties of M.C. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr J. Sutherland and Miss Molly Hyland. Mrs A. W. Edwards was the winner of the guessing competition. The ladies’ committee attended to the supper arrangements. Address on Malta. At the League of Mothers meeting Miss Higginson gave a very interesting address on Malta, which was of special interest to Featherston residents as Squadron Leader John Bloxam, of Featherston, is serving in Malta with the R.A.F. Perscnal. The staff of the Featherston Post Office tendered a farewell gathering at the Odd Fellows’ Hall to Mr A. T. McNamara when an enjoyable time was spent in games and dancing. A ■ much appreciated item was given by Mr Holland. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr J. Thompson, of the Greytown staff, and Miss Grace Fraser. During evening a presentation was made to Mr McNamara, whose personal qualities were eulogised by Mr Trask (postmaster) and Mr Holland (supervisor). Mr McNamara suitably replied. Supper was served. Mr McNamara left on Saturday to join the Navy.
