COUNTY AFFAIRS
FEATHERSTON COUNCIL MEETING AT MARTI N BOROUGH. GRANT TO REPAIR FLOOD DAMAGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held at Martinborough today. The chairman, Mr A. B. Martin, presided. There were also present: Messrs R. Smith, D. Cameron, R. W. Matthews, L. J. Thompson, G. Gillies, and J. A. McLeod. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. C. Bidwill.
J. C. Tully was granted permission to lay water pipes across the road opposite his Greytown property;' Mr A. J. Keller advised that the Wellington Education Board had agreed to the cost of a culvert at the Tuhitarata school. The council agreed to carry out the work at the board’s expense.
A letter was received from the Public Works Department stating that £417 had been allocated to the county in connection with flood damage on county roads.
It was agreed to supply particulars of the quantity of reinforced steel in stock to the Minister of Supply. The Martinborough Borough Council wrote congratulating the chairman and the councillors on the work carried out in connection with Emergency Precautions.
The ranger reported having dealt with one horse and 33 dogs. Accounts for £3695 5s 9d were passed.
