METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD FINAL MEETING OF YEAR. ENJOYABLE GATHERING. At the final meeting of the year of the Masterton Methodist Social Guild the president (Mrs G. G. Hancox) extended a welcome to all the members and friends and expressed pleasure at the members of the League of Mothers’ Choir. She spoke of the good work achieved by the Guild in the past and trusted that the members would look to the future with courage. A short devotional service was conducted by the Rev. G. S. Kings. On behalf of. the Guild members Miss V. Jackson presented shoulder sprays to Mesdames Hancox, Kings and Miller Hope. A floral token was also forwarded to Mrs Cocker, who was unable to attend the meeting. During the afternoon pianforte solos rendered by Miss West, and vocal items by the League of Mothers’ Choir were greatly appreciated. Two amusing competitions were held the winners being Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Martin. A Christmas gift stall was the centre of interest, and was in the capable hands of Mrs F. Daniell and Mrs G. F. Whitlock. Afternoon tea was provided by the members, the Social Committee acting as hostesses. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to all the ladies who had in any way helped towards, the success of the gathering.
