DORNIER SHOT DOWN IN FLAMES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ATTACK CONVOY. NO BRITISH CASUALTIES OR DAMAGE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.1 a.m.) RUGBY, November 12. An Admiralty communique states: “A Dornier 215, attempting to attack a British convoy in the North Sea on Monday evening, was shot down in flames by the destroyer Quantock. The destroyer opened fire as the Dornier .approached the convoy and shells were seen to burst around the plane, which tried to climb into the clouds but burst into flames and crashed into the sea. No casualties or damage were suffered by the convoy or the escorting warships.”
