Burke presided over the sixth birthday celebrations .of the Masterton Townswomen’s Guild held yesterday afternoon in the Savage Club’s room, which was artistically decorated by the Gardening Circle and was filled. Burke by Mrs Snowsill. Circle leaders and committee members were each presented with a shoulder spray. A sketch entitled “The Glory of the Garden” was given by members of the Gardening Circle. Robertson, who in addition to conveying greetings, spoke of the good work accomplished under the capable leadership of Mrs E. J. Burke during the past year. Mrs J. Walker, a foundation member, extinguished the candles. - Mrs Burke referred to the excellent spirit of members in assisting patriotic activities, and expressed the hope that peace would soon reign throughout the world.
