INSANE CRIMES
GUNMAN RUNS AMOK IN ENGLAND MAN AND WOMAN KILLED SEVEN OTHERS WOUNDED. PURSUING POLICE RAM CAR & MAKE ARREST. Firing ’at random from a car in the Chiswick, Acton and Perivale districts (on the outskirts of London) this morning, a gunman killed one man and one woman and wounded two other men and five women. 1 A police car in the afternoon rammed a private car in the Watford Bypass Road, Edgeware, and a man was arrested. The man who was killed was shot at point-blank range in a Chiswick street, when he stopped to buy a poppy. He was on crutches. The woman killed was an Acton housewife, who was also shot at point-blank range when she opened the door of her home in answer to the gunman’s knock. Those wounded were pedestrians. A member of the W.A.A.F. escaped death by inches when a car was pulled up and a shot was fired at a range of three yards, but the bullet tore through a bundle of sheets she was carrying.
