AUCKLAND ROBBERY
BAG SNATCHING INCIDENT. SUSPECT ARRESTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 8. A suspect was placed in custody this afternoon in connection with the theft on October 28 in Victoria Street of a handbag containing over £6OO, the property of the Waitemata Trading Company, which was snatched from a message boy who was on his way to the bank. While engaged on another inquiry at Papakura this morning, Detectives Gordon and Mahood were informed that a man had attempted to cash a cheque. They watched him. leave a shop and enter a rental car. in which there was another man, two women, and three young children. This car was followed and intercepted, and the occupants were questioned. All accompanied the detectives to the police station, and one man was detained. He was charged with having robbed Colin Jackson of-a bag containing £305 and twelve cheques, of a total value of £648 14s .The suspect will appear in the Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
