EARLY AIR ATTACK

DIRECT HIT ON ENEMY SHIP VESSEL LEFT LOW IN WATER. DAY ATTACKS ON BENGHAZI AND BENINA. LONDON, November 9. Benghazi harbour was attacked in daylight yesterday by Royal Air Force bombers and South African Air Force bombers raided Benina. In the Central Mediterranean British planes bombed an enemy convoy and obtained a direct hit on a -merchant ship which was left, low in the water. An escorting destroyer and other merchant ships were machine-gunned. In Abyssinia posts in the Gondar area were bombed. Three British aircraft are missing from these and other operations.
