MAY BE BLUFFING
JAPAN AND THE BURMA ROAD REPORT BY CORRESPONDENT AT HANOI. FOLLOWING INDO-CHINA TOUR. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, November 9. Opinion that Japan is bluffing over its threat to ent the Burma Road is supported by a cable from Reuter’s correspondent at Hanoi following an extensive tour of the IndoChina frontier with China. “I am able categorically to state the there was no unusual Japanese activity in this area during my visit,” he says. A special correspondent at Amoy of the Japanese “Nichi Nichi” says that reports are reaching Amoy that 3000 United States troops, comprising antiaircraft and engineer companies, had arrived at the Burma Road by the middle of October and are at present engaged in protecting their own country’s, aid to Chungking in supplies which have piled up on the Burma Road. The correspondent said the troops replaced British forces which have been transferred to the borders of Burma and Malay.
