GYMNASTIC CONTESTS
AT MASTERTON Y.M.C.A. . CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS. There was a good attendance at the Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium, Masterton, on Saturday night to witness the gymnastic championship competitions. There were numerous entrants and competition was close. Results: —Under 13 years, Keith Smith, 1. Under 15 years, George Masters (cup), 1; K. Groves (medal), 2. Junior (over 15 years), Brian Blackwood (cup), 1; Donald Fly (medal), 2. The cups, which were donated by Mr Avon Tatton, were presented by Mrs H. E. Pither, president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Mr G. Masters expressed thanks on behalf of the Y.M.C.A. to the Tatton brothers for the work they were carrying out in the gymnasium, and to Mr H. Piper (Wellington) for judging the competitions. Afterward, Mrs Pither entertained Mr and Mrs Masters, the Tatton Brothers, and the prize-winners at supper.
