A.B.C.D. ACTION

URGED BV CHINESE

MINISTER

MOST CRITICAL MOMENT IN PACIFIC. NEED OF KNOCKING OUT JAPAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, November 9. The North American Newspaper Alliance correspondent from Chungking, said that the Foreign Minister, Mr. Quo Tai-chi, in an interview said, “Today is a most critical moment in the Pacific, and every moment counts.” Therefore he invited the “A.8.C.D.” powers to pool their resources immediately for a strategic knockout blow against Japan. Mr. Quo Tai-chi suggested a doublebarreled programme to stop a desperate Japanese attempt against the Burma Road: First, by the democracies sending operational squadrons, of fighter and bomber aircraft to China; and, secondly, a combined “A.8.C.D.” push to drive the Japanese from IndoChina. New Delhi, India, reports that General Wavell has returned there. The military spokesman at his headquarters said, “We are prepared to face any emergency in the Far East. General Wavell’s visit to Burma and Malaya has had a sobering effect on the situation there. The Indian and Far Eastern commands are capable of nipping in the bud any Japanese mischief.” ‘
