AUSTRALIAN RACING

V.R.C. MEETING

BEAU VITE BEATEN.

SPLENDID WIN BY HIGH CASTE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright)

MELBOURNE, November 9

The weather was fine and warm and the attendance good for the concluding day of the Flemington races.

High Caste was given a wonderful reception when he had his third successive victory in the C. B. Fisher Plate. The only other candidate to gain three successive victories is Alawa. High Caste was last early, but took charge at the final furlong. Beau Vite made/a bold effort, but just missed. Tranquil Star was outclassed. The pace was slow early and was outside evens for the first three furlongs. The last three furlongs took 354. The race was run to suit High Caste, but this does not detract from the merit of his win.

High Caste has now won 34 races and £33,515 in stakes, and is tenth on the list of stake winners. High Caste is a likely runner in the Williamstown Cup on Saturday. Evergreen is running in the same race. Most people are inclined to blame Munro for Beau Vite’s defeat, and consider he treated the opposition lightly. The totalisator figures for the four days totalled £400,215, a record. Results:—
