A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “During the night of November 5, R.A.F. bombers raided stores and petrol dumps at Benghazi. A large petrol fire broke out on the Juliana Mole. The landing ground at Martuba was also attacked, and a number of explosions took place. Yesterday a number of objectives at Benghazi were successfully bombed by South African Air Force Marylands. “In the frontier area our fighters shot down an 579 in flames.

“All our planes returned safely.”
