TENNIS CLUB SEASON TO BE OPENED TOMORROW. The Greytown Memorial Park Tenis Club will officially open the season on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting. ST. LUKE’S CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. There was a very large attendance at the monthly meeting of the St. Luke’s Anglican Ladies’ Guild, when members of the Guild entertained the stall holders of Hallow e’en Fair. Several accounts were passed for payment. It was reported that the Leper Mission box contained 15s. Mrs Shedden (secretary) said she was very grateful to all those who had taken part in the Fair. At present the credit balance stood at £B2 17s, with small sums to come in. As this was the last meeting of the year at which Canon and Mrs Sykes will attend, she took the opportunity of expressing ap-, preciation for all they have done for the Guild. The fact that the Vicarage debt had been reduced from £604 to £lB4 in four years was greatly due to their enthusiasm and leadership. Canon Sykes said he was gratified at the huge success of the fair. He expressed his personal thanks for the kindness shown to his family and himself by the Ladies’ Guild while they had been living in Greytown. He and his family , were sorry to be leaving Greytown but his health and advancing years were the cause of his retirement. He said that he had given 50 years of his life to church work. Mrs Burch, vice-presedent, presented Mrs Sykes with a posy and Canon Sykes with a button-hole, the work of Mrs E. Richards. On the motion of Mrs H. Rees, a vote of thanks was passed to Messrs S. Shedden and O'Neale for valuable work given by them at the Hallow e’en Fair. Afternoon tea was supplied by the members. Personal. Miss Hill has returned from Paekakarikei.
