PRECAUTIONS SCHEME MEETING OF CONTROLLERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of controllers under the Emergency Precautions Scheme was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night, the Mayor (Mr C. R. Holmes) presiding. Matters were finalised for a try-out in about a week’s time. A hearty vote of thanks, was accorded to Messrs A. B. Martin (county chairman) and H. Hardinge (County for their work in organising scheme. Births Registered, Yesterday the fiftieth birth this year was registered at the local registry office —the first occasion on which this 'total Jias been reached since 1927. The highest total of births registered in one year was in 1921, when 65 were registered, while 60 were registered in 1916 and 1919. The lowest record was in 1927 when only 29 were recorded.
