Miss M. Hopkins, Kohinui, is visiting the South Island. Mrs R. T. Martin has returned to Levin after a holiday spent in Masterton.
Miss L. Gay, of Waipukurau, is the guest of her sister, Mrs B. Carroll, Pahiatua.
Mrs C. Lett, of Mangatainoka, is undergoing treatment at the Pahiatua Hospital. Misses M. D. Daldy, of Mangamutu, and L. Brown, of Konini, who have completed their V.A. training in Pahiatua, are to proceed to the Featherston Military Hospital, where they will be on the nursing staff. The death occurred in Wellington of Mrs Anna Phelan, wife of Mr M. G. Phelan, Oriental Bay. She was one of the city’s most generous hostesses. She was born in Alabama, U.S.A., and the society nearest her heart and for which she worked unceasingly, was the English-Speaking Union. She was also an active member of the Oriental BayRoseneath branch of the W.N.R. (Residential Nurseries).
