Our aircraft engaged enemy fighters over the target and one CR42 was seen falling out of control. “In the Gulf of Sirte yesterday, enemy merchant ships were attacked by our bombers. One medium-sized vessel was left sinking rapidly, with clouds of black smoke issuing from it. A second vessel was straddled by bombs.
