Mr Robert Russell, a member of the Masterton Borough Council, is an inmate of the Wellington Hospital. The Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister of Marketing, left Wellington for Hamilton by the Limited express last night. He expects to return to Wellington on Monday. Mr C. A. Jeffrey, chief private secretary to the Prime Minister, will return home this week from the Lewisham Hospital, Wellington, where he has been a patient for the past four months. Mr Jeffery was seriously injured in a motor car accident in Egypt in May. A prominent figure in Labour activities in Dunedin and secretary for many years of the Otago and Southland General Labourers’ Union, Mr Ralph Harrison, died on Wednesday in Dunedin Hospital at the age of 67, says a Dunedin Press Association message. He arrived in New Zealand in 1916. He leaves a widow, six sons and one daughter. The Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, who has been conducting important negotiations in Australia on behalf of the New Zealand Government, had originally intended to return to the Dominion yesterday, but he is now not expected back till the beginning of next week. Mr Nash is due to arrive in Wellington on Tuesday.
