WHOLESALE MURDER

OF JEWS IN RUMANIA MANY THOUSANDS OF VICTIMS. ANTONESCU’S VILE RECORD. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. Some 96,000 Jews have been killed in Bessarabia and Kukovina and over 1,000 killed in Rumania during the last few months, reports the Bucharest correspondent of the British United Press. In addition, 130,000 Jews have been forced across the Dniestei' into barren Russian territory, with only such possessions as they could carry. Hundreds of Jews, shut up for days in railway wagons en route to a concentration camp at Tulcea, died of hunger or cold. It is believed that General Antonescu’s persecution is designed to show that he can surpass the Iron Guard’s atrocities and thereby forestall further Iron Guard intervention. Rumania and German relations are growing worse, but Rumania is help? less. Rumanians complain, that the war against Russia is simply weakening them and exposing them to attack from Hungary.
