A member of the Home Guard was invited, by a sailor to have a drink. They retired to a neighbouring hostelry, where the sailor proceeded to ply his guest, at the same time refusing any reciprocation. ’ Why are you so hospitable to me, a total strangei ? the Home Guardsman asked. “Well, cully,” replied the sailor, “you belong to the cnly branch of the Services we haven’t had to rescue up to date.” '
