ATTACK ON ENEMY CONVOY IN CHANNEL SUPPLY VESSEL SUNK OR BEACHED. ) SOME BRITISH CASUALTIES. LONDON, November 4. In the Channel today a successful attack on an enemy convoy was made by a British naval, patrol under the command of an officer of the Royal Canadian Navy. One of the enemy ships was either sunk or beached in a badly damaged state. In the course of the action some casualties were suffered on one of the British ships. Another message states that the enemy supply ship, a large vessel, was hit by two torpedoes. “The enemy escorts,” it is added, heavily engaged by others of our patrol. Our fire was seen to be effective, and damage and casualties are likely to have been inflicted on the enemy. One of our vessels suffered some damage. Our casualties were one officer and four ratings wounded.”
