OF RUSSIAN AIR UNITS FINE RECORD OF SINGLE SQUADRON. HEAVY TOLL OF NAZI TROOPS & MATERIAL. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, October 29. The activity and initiative of individual Russian air units is shown by an example given in a Russian supplementary communique which states: “One of our air formations, operating on the central front during three days, destroyed 27 German tanks, 135' army supply lorries, fourteen anti-tank guns, seven heavy guns and five mortar batteries. By direct hits with large bombs, a great ammunition dump was blown up, and by machine-gun fire
and bombs our pilots killed a large number of German infantrymen. This formation shot down, during these days, in aerial combat, six Messerschmitts.”
