POOR RESULTS

FROM STATE OIL PLANT IN AUSTRALIA. GOVERNMENT NOT SATISFIED.

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) .CANBERRA, October 28. The Ministry of Labour is reported to be very dissatisfied with the low production of motor spirit from shale oil at the new £1,000,000 plant at Glendavis, which is under the control of. the National Oil Proprietary, Ltd. The Minister of Supply, Mr Beasley, declares that the production has reached only a small fraction of the 10,000,000 gallons annually which was promised when the operations began a few months ago. He hinted that the Commonwealth Government might have to take over the plant since the Commonwealth had subsidised the venture by £750,000.
