BRITISH RECOGNITION. TELEGRAM OF CONGRATULATION FROM KING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) RUGBY, October 28. His Majesty King George has sent a telegram of congratulation and good wishes to the President of the independent Syrian Republic. The telegram constitutes a formal recognition by Britain of the independence of Syria, as proclaimed by General Catroux on September 27. The appointment of a British minister to Syria is under consideration.
