BIG EVENT TO TAURANGI.
E. V. DYE SUSPENDED FOR SIX MONTHS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, October 27. The Waverley Racing Club’s Labour Day meeting was held today in fine but overcast weather before a large attendance. The track was easy after rain. The totalisator handled £16,893, compared with £19,354 at Hawera last year and £ 13,492 10s at Waverley in 1939. After doing the preliminary for the Moumahaki Hack Stakes, Bendemeer was involved in a collision with Ocean Breeze, his rider, J. Hastie, being thrown heavily. Hastie was admitted to Patea Hospital with concussion. Bendemeer was withdrawn and investments refunded. Following an inquiry after the Brewer Handicap, E. V. Dye, rider of Ring Chief, was held guilty of foul riding by grabbing the reins of Black Robe and was suspended for six months. Results: — Handicap Hack Hurdles, IJm.: 2/2, Segra, 10.2 (W. C.
