The city’s interest in the latest revelations have been heightened because they have given additional weight to those insisting that the excessive burden of taxation is the most serious drag on the nation’s production effort. Additional incentives for both capital and labour are claimed to be essential, at whatever cost. The financial Press is divided on the lastnamed question, but all agree that decentralisation, a .more efficient co-or-dination of supply Departments, and the expulsion of incompetents, are all long overdue.
