FIGHTER SWEEP

OVER NORTHERN FRANCE SEVEN ENEMY PLANES DESTROYED. NIGHT BOMBING OF GERMANY AND OCCUPIED PORTS. LONDON, October 24. In a sweep over Northern France this afternoon, British fighters destroyed seven enemy planes without loss to themselves. An Air Ministry communique adds, however, that one of our fighters is missing from an offensive patrol later in the day. Last night, powerful forces of the R.A.F. attacked enemy ports and naval bases in north-west Germany. This Was the third time this week that these areas have been attacked. During last night one of our bombers destroyed an enemy fighter. The docks at Brest, Cherbourg and Le Havre were also attacked. Two of our planes are missing. POOR EFFORT ENEMY NIGHT RAID ON SCOTLAND. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, October 24. A communique states: “Soon after dark last night a single enemy aircraft dropped a small number of bombs in North Scotland. Very slight damage was caused and there were no casualties:”
