PLEDGE OF VICTORY

MOSCOW & LONDON WOMEN EXCHANGE OF GREETINGS. UNITY AGAINST BARBARISM. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 24. Moscow housewives sent “warm military greetings” to London housewives in a message, which says:— “We women of Moscow are helping at the front by concrete deeds, giving all our strength and labour for the annihilation of German Fascism, that wickedest enemy of mankind, which has drenched all Europe in blood, which brings medieval barbarism to nations and hunger and death to children, old people and women. “We call upon you women of London to wage an active struggle against German Fascism. Mobilise your strength for this struggle for the liberation of humanity from Hitlerism and for Hitlerism's complete destruction. We are sure that by the combined strength of freedom-loving nations German Fascism will be destroyed. Long live the united anti-Fascism front against Hitlerism. Long live the women .of Great Britain, who take an active part in the fight for national independence for their native land, for victory over German Fascism. Long live victory over our common, accursed enemy.” Returning greetings with glowing admiration, London housewives, according to a report by the Women’s Voluntary Services for Civil Defence, said: — “Day by day we follow the news of your epic struggle with intense anxiety. We housewives in the civil defence services of London are proud to count ourselves your colleagues in arms. We, too, faced the unleashed, fury of the German Air Force. The power of its terror was broken upon our unshaken confidence in victory, even while our homes were laid in ruins about us. We stand ready to face and break renewed attacks when they may come, and, while we wait, the full power of our will to serve is thrown into the help we . send you. Women of Britain are massing in their millions to work and endure for victory in the present• and to plan for peace, based on sanity and good faith, in the future. Out of the agony which the German blood lust has brought Upon Europe a finer civilisation must spring to life. The women of Russia and the women of the British Empire must play a leading part in the creation of this new world. We send you our greetings —together we will win through to victory.”
