WAR PRISONERS
IN HANDS OF ENEMY REPORTS ON CAMPS. GERMANY & NORTH AFRICA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) ' RUGBY, October 16. Recent information regarding war prisoners in camp in Axis countries shows that a new camp in Germany, Stalag 3, contained 185 R.A.F. noncommissioned officers on October 2. It is stated to be well located. The buildings in general are adequate. It has recently been visited and as a result steps are being taken to ensure that such improvements as are necessary shall be effected. There are over 300 British prisoners in Carcarese Camp, in Tripoli. The building is in good order and not overcrowded. There were no complaints when the camp was visited-in August. The daily food ration included vegetables and potatoes, either fresh or pickled, or salted beans. The men can bathe in the sea as much as they wish. Work consists of gardening, cobbling, cooking and unloading goods at the docks.
