SHORTHORN BULLS

SALE AT TUPURUPURU A GOOD DEMAND. EVERY ANIMAL SOLD UNDER HAMMER. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd., and Messrs Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report having held the tenth annual sale of Shorthorn bulls on behalf of Mr D. Buchanan at Tupurupuru on Tuesday. As usual this sale created wide interest and attracted buyers from Hawke’s Bay, Wanganui and the King Country. With the influx of so much imported blood, and judicious culling, Mr Buchanan’s herd has now reached a very high standard, and the bulls offered on Tuesday were of an excellent and very even type. Competition was steady throughout and every bull was sold under the hammer. The top price of the day was 105 gns paid by the Martinborough breeder, Mr lan McLeod, for the really high-class bull, “Gladstone Delta 28th.” This bull is by the imported bull “Mayflower Stamp,” and on the dam’s side is from the famous “Bulieu” family. Another “Mayflower Stamp” bull was bought by Mr D. H. S. Riddiford for 92gns. Seventeen bulls were sold in all and averaged 54|gns. The following are full particulars:— “Gladstone Rajah 15th,” sold to W. Craig, Wanganui, for 50gns; “Gladstone Rajah 19th,” to W. Craig, Wanganui, 62gns; “Gladstone Delta 39th,” to H. Nelson, Taumarunui, 77gns; “Gladstone Delta 28th,” to lan McLeod, Martinborough, 105gns; “Gladstone Delta 33rd,” to J. Craig, Wanganui, 50gns; “Gladstone Rajah 14th,” to W. M. Jury. Ponatahi, 30gns; “Gladstone Delta 50th,” to D. H. S. Riddiford, Featherston, 92 gns; “Gladstone Delta 42nd,” to H. G. Williams, Masterton, 67gns; “Gladstone Delta 42nd,” to M. D. McGregor, Hikorangi, 47|gns; “Gladstone Delta 32nd,” to M. D. McGregor, Hikorangi, 35gns; “Gladstone Stanch 4th,” to W. J. Martin, Martinborough, 56gns; “Gladstone Delta 40th,” to Est. Robt. Cooper, Gladstone, 55gns; “Gladstone Delta 30th,” to Mrs L. Collins, Otane, 62gns; “Gladstone Delta 31st,” to Duncan McGregor, Gladstone, 30gns; “Gladstone Delta 46th,” to W. J.
