EXCELLENT CONCERT
KINDERGARTEN MOVEMENT BENEFITS ENTERTAINMENT IN OPERA HOUSE. LAST NIGHT’S PROGRAMME. Further support to the Free Kindergarten movement in Masterton was given last night, when an excellent concert was presented in the Opera House, the proceeds being in aid ot the committee’s funds. There was a large attendance of the public, who thoroughly enjoyed the many items presented. On behalf of the Kindergarten Committee, Mrs C. J. Williams (president) thanked the audience for its and the many performers for their assistance, which was greatly appreciated. The programme was as follows: “God Defend New Zealand”; overture, Frank Pool’s Orchestra; “Land of Hope and Glory” and “Lords of the Air” St Matthew’s Collegiate School; dialogue, “Little 80-Peep” and “Little Boy Blue,” Diana Kjestrup and Keitha Catherall; piano trio, “Polish Dance,’ Beth Creswell, Olga Bettelheim, Margaret Bubbers; recitation, “Blue Beard,” Margaret Dagg; dance, “The Spirit of the Rose,” Alison Scott; humour, “Belinda the Cow,” Diana Kjestrup; mouth organ party, Whatman Home Boys; song and own accompaniment, “Cinderella’s Party,” Betty Barnes; recitation, “A Dolly’s Lament,” Jocelyn Heath; song and dance, “Minuet” (Mozart), Barbara Hair, Aileen Daily; rhythmics, St Matthew’s School senior girls; vocal duet, “Hine e Hine,” Heather and Joan Douglas; sketch, Savage Club; toe dance, “When. My Lady Goes to the Ball,” Shirley Watson; vocal solo, selected, Mr R. Gilbert; character in costume, “Fairies on the Lawn,” Beryl Henderson; Percussion Band, selected, Miss Stubbings’s pupils; selection, Frank Pool’s Orchestra; pyramids, Whatman Home Boys; operatic dance, Erina O’Rourke; recitation, “The Big Ache,” Keitha Catherall; song and ballet, “The Girl in the Alice Blue Gown,” Noeline Blackwood and ballet; humorous sketch, “Kate at the Pictures,” Yvonne Saunders; song, selected, Mr R.
