HOSIERY MILLS
SHAREHOLDERS’ ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of shareholders of the Masterton Spinning and Hosiery Mills Ltd., was held last night, the chairman of directors, Mr S. R. Gawith, presiding. Referring to the year’s operations, Mr Gawith stressed the difficulties of the present time, especially in getting raw materials owing to war conditions. These difficulties seemed to be becoming more acute. Previously they had been able to get yarn from Australia but that market was now closed to them and they were able to get only very limited supplies of raw material from New Zealand mills. The balance sheet, he said, was the best ever produced.
The retiring directors, Messrs A. Anderson and G. W. Morice, were re-el-ected and Messrs Sellar and Sellar were reappointed auditors. On the motion of Mr Gawith, a vote of thanks was passed to the manager, Mr W. L. Marchbank and the staff for their work during the past twelve months.
